I live and work in Simo, Finland.
My home is by the river Simojoki, surrounded by nature and the forest near by. My greatest joy is to work outdoors in every season, under the open sky. Watching bright day light turning to soft shadowless light that lasts all night at mid summer.
I also enjoy spending my time in the forest, either riding a horse along small footpaths, gallop at full speed on the small road, or just go walking on tracks on the snow with my dogs.
The forest is my church and I wish to visit my church every day, not only on Sundays.
Surrounding nature, animals, flowing river and sunlight or lack of it makes influence not only to my mind, but also to the work that is taking its shape at the time. Depending of the season sun, wind, rain and snow, they all leave their own marks on wood while working outdoors. Ideas for characters come from the past life, dreams and subconscious. Coincidenses have a great role in the beginning as well. I like to add natural materials to my wooden figures, like hair, eyelashes, pony tail or parts of accidentally died animals. Some works are made up of bronze, glass, silver or old iron parts. I am a story teller and with my works I create a fantasy world with just a touch of melancholy.
